Ahead of the mid-season content update, Treyarch has released an all-new Melee Weapon for players to obtain for use in both titles! If the other Season One weapons aren’t what you’re looking for, or you’d like to get your hands on the latest content, be sure to complete this simple challenge to gain access to the new weapon.
The Streetsweeper is the fifth and final new weapon in Season One.
Wakizashi
Famously known as the companion sword to the Samurai’s Katana. Traditionally forged using a folded steel technique. Light to wield, resilient to force, and durable to wear.
Whether you’re a fan of anime and Japanese culture or just looking to slice ‘n dice your enemies, the Wakizashi should fulfill all of your blade needs.
Unlock Challenge
Bundle
If you’d prefer to skip the line and immediately unlock the Streetsweeper you can purchase a Bundle from the Store which contains a Blueprint for this weapon. Upon doing so, you will be granted immediate access to the base variant.
At the time of release, there is just one Bundle and Blueprint for the Wakizashi; purchase the Disavowed Assassin Bundle for 1,600 COD Points to gain immediate access to the weapon.

We’ve heard bringing a knife to a gunfight is a bad thing, but bringing a Sledgehammer to a gunfight is a different story entirely. This heavy-duty tool is sure to be slow but deal some real damage to enemies on hit.

It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any reason to use it when compared to the knife in Cold War. Perhaps the weapon will swing in a large arch, giving the melee tool some much-needed range.
Since Warzone’s melee is already overpowered, it’ll be fun to see where the Sledgehammer fits in. At the very least, it’ll be the ultimate tool of disrespect.

The Wakizashi isn’t the first blade to come to Warzone, and it joins the Knife in Cold War multiplayer. A companion to a samurai’s Katana, this Japanese weapon was traditionally used for close-quarters combat, beheading opponents, and committing seppuku.

We imagine that the latter won’t be possible in-game, but the sword will be more than capable on the battlefield. It’s sure to be a fast weapon, capable of dropping enemies rapidly up close.
Both the Sledgehammer and Wakizashi won’t be arriving at launch in Black Ops Cold War Season 1. Instead, the two drops will be coming partway through the season as part of Black Ops’ largest-ever free content drop.

Once unlocked, the weapons can follow players into online Multiplayer, Zombies, or even Warzone matches. We wonder if they’ll even appear in Warzone’s new Gulag system, which is changing with the Season 1 update.
We’ve now got our first look at Warzone’s new Rebirth Island map, and we like what we see. Given that the area focuses on close-quarters combat, bringing a Sledgehammer into battle isn’t the worst idea.
And for those heading into standard Multiplayer, perhaps the changes to Black Ops Cold War’s SBMM will ensure there’s more chance of getting a kill with these weapons.
